Congratulations to Joe & Hamish for their performances on the weekend of 22nd – 24th March in the British Championships which were held at the Echo Arena, Liverpool. Both boys were in the U.16 section (Youth) of the event during which Hamish gained overall Bronze medal position and two individual apparatus silver medals, one on Floor and the other on High bar.

Due to a shoulder injury Joe was unable to compete on all six pieces of apparatus, however, he was still able to, successfully and convincingly, achieve Individual apparatus gold medal positions on Pommel Horse and Parallel bars.

An excellent result for both boys and a great experience enjoying the new format wherein the top 8 scores from the U.16, U.18 & Seniors compete on the final day and contend for the medals in an open setting. The format encouraged excellence in performance from the younger gymnasts looking upwards to their elder peers and indeed some apparatus was medalled by younger gymnasts showing the depth of ability and talent currently in the British Mens programme.

The boys medal winning routines can be seen on our youtube channel, cbgc2011. Well done to both City of Birmingham boys.
