On arrival a champagne reception invited nominees and guests into a foyer area of live music and a buzzing atmosphere of sports personalities and TV celebrities in excited chat. The Edgbaston Cricket Stadium was an excellent setting for the Birmingham Sports Awards evening, ushering the gathered guest through into a large numbered table room which sported a large digitally screened wall. This was the setting for our three course meal worthy of the best restaurants.

After the meal and some charity games the shortlist of the top three nominees for each of the thirteen categories were announced. The city of Birmingham Gymnastics Club was nominated in two categories ‘Club of the Year’ and ‘Junior Sports Personality of the Year’.

Success for Taeja James in the’Junior Sports Personality of the Year’ was a great thrill for the contingent of nine that went along from CBGC. In the ‘Club of the Year’ category a deserved win went to Birmingham Wheels Roller Speed Club with CBGC as runners-up.

A great night with great company was provided by excellent hosting from the organisers, the Birmingham Post and Mail; thank you from the City of Birmingham Gymnastics Club.
